Concord® Standards and Competency Framework

Concord® serves as the global standards and compliance organization for Advanced Work Packaging (AWP). Our role in the AWP ecosystem is to establish and maintain the governing framework for competency, certification, assurance, and independent compliance oversight.

Organizations seeking to adopt AWP are expected to follow a structured pathway designed to ensure internal ownership, sustained capability development, and alignment with established AWP governance standards.

The process below represents the recognized and proven method for organizations preparing to implement AWP in accordance with the Concord® framework.

Step 1 — Establish an Internal AWP Taskforce

The first requirement is the designation of an internal team responsible for leading AWP adoption.
This taskforce represents the organization’s ownership of the AWP process. It should include individuals with a strong understanding of the company’s project delivery systems, governance processes, and cross-functional operations.

This internal group will act as the central point of coordination for all AWP-related planning, competency development, and implementation activities.

Step 2 — AWP Champion Certification®

Members of the designated taskforce are to be enrolled in the Concord AWP Champion Certification® program.
This certification ensures that those leading the effort possess a verified understanding of AWP principles, standard governance requirements, and implementation methodology as defined by Concord®.

Certified AWP Champions are granted access to the Concord® platform, where they can obtain clarification on standards, methodology, and compliance expectations throughout their certification process.

Step 3 — Internal Leadership Briefing

Upon certification, the internal AWP Champions are equipped to brief their organization’s leadership on AWP principles, governance structure, and the implications for company operations.
Concord® provides supporting resources to assist in structuring these internal briefings.

This ensures that executive leadership receives context-specific information from within the organization, delivered by personnel who understand both AWP standards and internal operations.

Step 4 — AWP Compliance Self-Assessment

Following leadership alignment, the organization should complete the Concord® AWP Compliance Self-Assessment.
This diagnostic tool enables organizations to compare existing structures, systems, and practices against Concord® AWP compliance requirements.

The resulting analysis provides an objective understanding of the organization’s current level of alignment and identifies specific areas for improvement prior to any external assurance or audit activity.

Step 5 — Development of Implementation Roadmap

Based on the findings of the Compliance Self-Assessment, the internal AWP taskforce should prepare an implementation roadmap.
This roadmap translates diagnostic outcomes into defined actions, responsibilities, and timelines, ensuring a controlled and standards-based progression toward full AWP compliance.

Concord® may review such implementation plans once an organization has demonstrated maturity in its internal competency and understanding of the governance framework.

Step 6 — Independent Assurance and Compliance Oversight

When the internal implementation framework is in place, organizations may seek Concord’s assurance and independent compliance oversight.
These services verify that AWP implementation aligns with the recognized standard and that organizational practices meet the competency and governance criteria established by Concord®.

Summary

This pathway has been established through extensive industry experience and serves as the formal process for organizations preparing to adopt AWP under the Concord® governance framework.
It ensures that implementation is led from within, that competency is formally developed and certified, and that alignment with AWP standards is achieved in a verifiable and sustainable manner.
